Background:
In 2013, we (members of Fundacion Rescate) began to look and pray about how we could serve our surrounding community, Silvana Pasuña (Roberto’s mother and member of Fundacion Rescate) began to share with us what she was seeing at her work. Silvana has a government position and is in charge of protecting the rights of children and adolescents in and around the area of Sucúa, much like working for child protective services (CPS) in the U.S. In her job she comes across many cases in which children are in unsafe situations at home (neglect, abuse, rape, etc) and need to be taken out of their homes. The problem is there is nowhere for these children to go. The nearest orphanage is three hours away, and is beyond capacity. This left us thinking and praying as to how we could help.
Purpose:
To provide a safe place for children who are living in unsafe/unstable home environments in and around the area of Sucúa.
Mission:
Our mission is to not only provide children with a safe place to stay, but to go beyond that, and help restore homes by helping the family as a whole.
Vision:
We want to provide safe temporary (no longer than 6 months) housing for children who are in unsafe home environments.
Objectives:
Show the love of God
We want to share the love of God to hurting families by sharing the love and blessings that God has shown us. When God provides us with money, clothes, food, and/or people that could help and bless others, we want to extend those gifts to help restore families.
Restore Families
We can best show our Christian values by showing God’s love and encouraging family restoration. We want to restore families to how God designed them. Our goal is to help get children back home with their parent(s), by helping parents get the assistance they need to provide a healthy and safe home environment. This may include, but not limited to: counseling, social work, medical assistance, and/or substance abuse support.
Provide a safe home for children
During a child’s time at the foster home, they will have all of their basic necessities provided for (food, clothes, shelter, place to sleep, schooling, and medical help if needed). Children ages (3-12) will be accepted into the foster home, with the goal to keep siblings together.
